Ooms Industrial Bitumen

Industrial Bitumen is a dark petroleum residue modified by the oxidation process. Its consistency ranges from highly viscous to solid.

Industrial Bitumen shows the following properties:
- Water proofing
- Plasticity
- Adhesion
- Resistance towards acid- alkali reactions.

It also makes an efficient electrical insulator. Because it has excellent dielectric strength.
Bitumen is a safe and inexpensive material which has multiple uses in the industry and wide range of applications.

In building floors : Damp-proofing and water-proofing; acid alkali resistant flooring; conductive flooring; sparkles flooring.

Manufacture of roofing felts, adhesives, primers, damp-proof coating compositions, liquid roof coating, plastic cements and hot carriage proofing compounds.

Canal lining, embankment, hydraulic structure, dam lining protection and sand stablisation.

Road construction and maintenance. Industrial Use : Lamination, manufacture of caulking compounds, joint fillers, rubber extenders, batter\ impounds, cable filling compounds.

Ooms sources the best quality bitumen directly from leading PSUs and private sector refineries. All grades of Ooms bitumen are manufactured similar to grades specified in IS; 73-1992 for paving bitumen like S35 (30/40) S65 (60/70) and fully blown or semi blown bitumen specified in IS: 702-1988 for 85/25. 85/40, 90/15, 115/15, 135/10, 155/6.

  • - Ooms bitumen drums should be heated gradually till the bitumen melts completely. It should be continuously stirred to prevent local overheating. Only the required quantity should be heated for the work in hand.
  • - A thermometer should be used to ensure that the bitumen is not overheated or it will lose much of its properties.
  • - Bitumen brought up to its normal working temperature is applies with a brush or by pouring and spreading using a rubber squeegee.
